PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CARE WITH AED & O2

TEENAGERS (14-20 YRS)



    With the Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary Care course at its core this accreditation course teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies, that they may come across in an ever more complex society. The course focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure the young participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise.

    The course can be customised based on the school or groups requirements and if alignment with IGCSE or IB is required.  Though the content is formal much of the course relies on the participants developing and interest in the core subject matter and learning through open discussion, the course is perfect to set up young people as they up-skill and head to university.

    The program consists of a combination of three core components plus additional skills:

    • Primary Care & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) 
    • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) 
    • Secondary Care (Assessment First Aid) 

    Course Content Primary Care:

    Scene Assessment, Barrier Use, Primary Assessment, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Serious Bleeding Management, Shock Management, Spinal Injury Management, Conscious and Unconscious Choking Management, concussion.

    Course Content Secondary Care (First Aid):

    Allergic Reactions (incl. anaphylaxis), Asthma, Bruises, Burns, Chemical Burns, Choking, alcohol abuse, identifying drug ingestion, Cuts, Dental Injuries, Diabetic Problems, Dislocations and Fractures, Electrical Injuries, Eye Injuries, First Aid Kit Assembly, Fish Spine Injury, Frostbite, Heat Exhaustion, Heatstroke, Heart Attack, Hypothermia, Insect Stings, Jellyfish Stings, Octopus Bites, Poisoning, Scrapes, Seizures, Snake Bites, Spider Bites, Sprains and Strains, Stroke, Temperature Related Injuries and Venomous Bites and Stings.



    Duration

    This 9-10 hour course is video, book and instructor led. The course can be split into two 4.5 hour sessions but tends to be a full-day course.

    Assessment

    The final assessment includes realistic scenarios involving actors and a multitude of props and the ready use of real first-aid equipment.

    Certification

    Upon successful completion of this course students will be issued with a credit card sized certificate recognised internationally. This certificate will be valid for 2 years.

    Cancellation policy

    Cancellations will be accepted up to 24 hours in advance to the start of the course. Late cancellations, 48 hours or less prior to the start of the course, will be charged. A minimum of 10 people on the course is required.
